Missing Stairs and Bad Actors
Sunday January 26, 2025 10:00am - 10:50am EST
Since fandom began there have been bad actors and predators in it. A
frustratingly storied tradition exists for using tools like gaslighting, sexual
harrassment, logrolling, plagiarism, and other kinds of eminently unethical and
unprofessional means to get ahead, and as progressive and mutually supportive
as genre fandom seems, we're in no way immune. So let's talk about how to
actually provide support to emerging writers, how to spot and avoid bad actors
so we can ensure more people get lifted up instead of stepped on.

Sunday January 26, 2025 10:00am - 10:50am EST
History of computational machines from the Egyptians to the 19th century. A distinguishing trait of human beings is that we make and use tools but does that go far enough? Many animals use tools. Maybe a better definition involves using computational tools and labor-saving devices, to help with advanced cognitive functions, such as computers. We will briefly discuss the development and use of computational devices. We will explore the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Sumerians, Chinese, and Europeans.

From Glory to Fatigue to…Renaissance?
Sunday January 26, 2025 12:00pm - 12:50pm EST
It’s been over a decade since Robert Downy Jr graced the big screen kickstarting a new era of comic book movies. Since then the MCU has thrived, stumbled, and through it all still brought us some of the best comic book movies ever. Others have tried to mimic it but now the slate is cleaning itself. The DCEU is dead. The Sony Spiderman movies(not featuring Spiderman) have floundered and according to reports breathed their last. And now with Creature Commandos and Superman the DCU is set to impress! Join us as we sit around and talk about the highs, the lows, and what’s to come as the pages move to screen!
